Jackson, Miss. (AP) - Both candidates for Mississippi attorney general say they're voting for a "personhood" initiative that would amend the state constitution to say life begins at
conception.
Democratic incumbent Jim Hood won't say how he'll vote on a voter ID initiative, although he says he'll defend it if it passes and is challenged in court - as he would any part of the constitution.
Republican challenger Steve Simpson says he hasn't decided how he'll vote on an initiative that would restrict governments' taking of land through eminent domain.
Simpson says he supports voter ID.
Hood says he doesn't want governments to abuse eminent domain.
Hood and Simpson spoke at a press luncheon Monday in their only joint appearance this campaign season. The three initiatives also will be on the Nov. 8 ballot.
