Fox 40 News has just learned that former Clinton music minister John Langworthy has been arrested by police Wednesday morning.
Officials have confirmed to Fox 40 News that Langworthy is charged with 8 counts of Gratification of Lust in both Clinton and Jackson.
Investigators say the crimes happened between 1980 and 1984 and involved a total of 5 victims, ranging in age between 8 and 12 years old. Officials say Langworthy would have been 18-24 years old during the crimes.
Two of the victims were from Clinton at the time and three were from Jackson.
Cops say Langworthy knew all five of the victims through his work with youth choirs at local churches, including First Baptist Church of Jackson and Daniel Memorial Baptist Church in Jackson.
Officials also tell Fox 40 News that the incidents in Clinton happened in dorm rooms at Mississippi College, where Langworthy is believed to have been a student.
Langworthy was arrested at his home Wednesday morning and taken to the Clinton Police Department, where he is being held on a $200,000 bond.
Jackson police say they plan on serving Langworthy's arrest warrant Wednesday afternoon before bringing him to the Jackson Police Headquarters for processing.
