Mo Williams Basketball Camp is Back
Mo Williams Basketball Camp The Mo Williams Foundation is hosting three events that will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi. Mo grew up in Jackson, MS and attended Murrah High School. Mo is now a professional basketball player with the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers. He was a point guard from the University of Alabama, and was selected 2nd round (18th pick, 47th overall) in 2003 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz. He became a free agent and signed with the Milwaukee Bucks from 2004-2007. On August 13, 2008, Williams was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and played in his first NBA All-Star game in 2009. He credits his Jackson, Mississippi roots for his success and now gives back to the community through his foundation. Mo formed the foundation because he believes "the opportunity for success is the right of every child." In an interview in 2009, Mo talked about his desire to be a postive role model for disadvantaged kids. He said that he is motivated to help these kids strive to be the best they can be and reach their goals. He said that education is the key and to "use basketball, don't let basketball use you." The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi's mission is to enable all young people, especially those that need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring responsible citizens.
